Shadow – Being a Stranger (print)

An abstract print reflects the theme of migration, and thoughts on being a stranger.

In this black and white abstract print, my personal journey as a migrant finds its visual expression. Smooth, graceful lines carve out a path through the intense dark shadows, creating a composition that is both dynamic and remarkably stable.

Within this monochromatic expanse, a profound story of solitude, the fear of loneliness, and the unwavering eagerness to be understood takes shape. The smooth lines represent the individual migrant’s journey, where the path forward may seem clear, yet the intense dark shadows cast a veil of uncertainty.

In this artwork, I’ve harnessed the power of stark contrast to convey the intricacies of my personal experience. The interplay between the smooth lines and the dark shadows mirrors the tension between the longing for connection and the apprehension of isolation.

The print holds a special significance as it was created in collaboration and used for the Met.a.phorum participatory theater project by Rehearsal for Reality z.s. in cooperation with Heinrich Boll Stiftung Prague. The print served as a visual narrative for the project, enriching the experience of the audience at Studio ALTA, Prague, on 14 May 2022, and NaZemi Brno on 23 June 2022.
